In Greco-Roman ^WP mythology ^WP, Aeneas (ᵻˈniːəs, ae̯ˈneːaːs̠;  from Greek ^WP: Αἰνείας, Aineíās) was a Trojan hero, the son of the prince Anchises ^WP and the goddess Aphrodite ^WP (Venus ^WP).  His father was a first cousin ^WP of King Priam ^WP of Troy (both being grandsons of Ilus ^WP, founder of Troy ^WP), making Aeneas a second cousin to Priam's children ^WP.
