General information[]

Omicron (uppercase Ο, lowercase ο, Όμικρον, o mikron) is the 15^th letter of the modern Greek alphabet ^WP. In the system of Greek numerals ^WP it has a value of 70. It is rarely used in mathematics because it is indistinguishable from the Latin ^WP letter O ^WP and easily confused with the digit ^WP 0 ^WP. This letter is derived from the Phoenician letter ^WP Ayin ^WP. In modern Greek ^WP, Omicron represents the sound IPA: ^WP [ɔ]. Letters that arose from omicron include Roman O ^WP and Cyrillic O ^WP.

In Unicode ^WP the capital ^WP letter is codepoint U+039F ^F and the lowercase ^WP is U+03BF ^F.
