General information[]
In Greek mythology WP, Thanatos (ˈθænətɒs; Θάνατος WP, pronounced in tʰánatosanc "Death WP", from θνῄσκω thnēskō "to die, be dying") was the personification of death WP. He was a minor figure in Greek mythology, often referred to but rarely appearing in person.
His name is transliterated in Latin WP as Thanatus, but his equivalent in Roman mythology WP is Mors or Letum. Mors is sometimes erroneously identified with Orcus WP, whose Greek equivalent was Horkos WP, God of the Oath.
